Successful roll out of fortnightly collections for CW&C

Since February, we have delivered almost 300,000 red and blue lidded recycling bins and implemented fortnightly collections. We have successfully rolled out the revised service to 150,000 properties, this huge achievement was made possible thanks to the hard work and dedication of all CWR staff.  The ability of crews to adapt and provide a quality service, as one new round rolled out per week, has ensured the success of this project.

The service has been well received by residents and the Council have thanked CWR staff for the smooth transition and limited disruption to residents during this period. Recycling is easier for residents with larger bins and less chance of recycling blowing in the wind. Plus, the new bins are easier and quicker to empty, collected in fewer and more efficient twin packs and food waste vehicles. All supporting the Council’s new waste management strategy and reducing the climate impact of the service.

By early 2023 all properties should be on the new service, the remaining being assessed for suitability of bin storage and access soon. We expect this project will greatly improve the waste and recycling service in Cheshire West and Chester.
