About us

Established in 2019, CWR is a Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWaC) owned company.

Today, we play a key role in supporting the borough’s infrastructure, delivering essential waste, recycling and fleet maintenance services that residents rely on every day.

Our operations include kerbside household collections, the management of seven Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs), and a Materials Recovery Facility in Ellesmere Port where approximately 35,000 tonnes of material is processed each year.

Alongside this, our Fleet Services team maintains both operational and Council vehicles, helping to ensure critical services run safely and effectively.

As a Council-owned company, we work closely with our shareholder to ensure our services provide value for money while supporting wider environmental and community outcomes.

Through local employment, skills development and working with local suppliers, we contribute to the borough’s economy and ensure the services we deliver create wider benefits for the communities we serve.

At the heart of our organisation is our peopletotalling more than 300 hundred across ten sites. We're committed to maintaining high safety standards, supporting the progression of our workforce and creating an environment where people can develop their skills and build long-term careers.

Maintaining high standards of safety and wellbeing across our operations is our priority, and we recognise the importance of protecting our people, the public and the communities we serve. This focus underpins our operational performance and has been recognised through industry awards.

We take a continuous improvement approach to how we deliver our services. By using data and insight to monitor performance and identify opportunities, we refine our operations, improve efficiency and maintain consistently high standards across all of our activities.

Alongside this, we continue to explore practical and innovative ways to enhance how our services are delivered and respond to changing needs across the borough.

Creating social value is central to how we operate. Through local employment, skills development and working with local suppliers, we contribute to the borough’s economy and ensure the services we deliver generate wider economic, environmental and social benefits.

Our services play an important role in reducing waste, increasing recycling and supporting the borough’s environmental ambitions. As we continue to evolve, our focus remains on delivering efficient, high-quality services while contributing to a more sustainable future for Cheshire West and Chester.
