Supporting local food banks

CWR and our material consultants, Plan B management services, work closely to to recycle as much as possible of the waste we collect.

As part of our joint commitment to make a positive impact in our communities we are proud to announce that since the CWR contract began there's been an amazing 18,000 items donated to food banks to help support Cheshire West residents.

New Canalside workshop and material recycling facility

November 2023
Throughout 2023 there's been a lot of investment at our Canalside Operations Hub. The construction programme has included the redevelopment of the yard buildings, creating a new material recycling facility (MRF), enhanced sorting areas and the Ellesmere Port Fleet Services workshop.

All new CWR vehicles are EURO6 - suitable for adaption to alternate fuels. Together with the Council, CWR are committed to delivering a service that helps the public to easily make the most of the recycling opportunities available, whilst also helping to address the climate crisis where we can.

Successful roll out of fortnightly collections for CW&C

October 2022

Since February, we have delivered almost 300,000 red and blue lidded recycling bins and implemented fortnightly collections. We have successfully rolled out the revised service to 150,000 properties, this huge achievement was made possible thanks to the hard work and dedication of all CWR staff.

Construction Underway

September 2022

Over the last few months, a number of major construction projects have been underway. 

Construction works have now been completed at our Leslie Road transfer site. As part of these changes our colleagues from the Council’s Environmental Services operation are now fully utilising Leslie Road to transfer and process their litter bin waste, fly tipped waste and street sweepings.

Winsford Operations move to Road Three

September 2022

Last month we officially moved to our Road Three Operations Hub in Winsford, this involved a full refurbishment as part of the move from Browning Way.

Now home to our east operation, Road Three Operations Hub is also the base for the Council’s Environmental Services operation.

Fleet Services and workshop operations

September 2022

We have recently begun the mobilisation process of our new Fleet Services division at CWR, and we've welcomed new members of staff into our CWR family.

This is the first stage of our wider workshop roll-out programme, one which will mean we maintain our own fleet and some of the Council owned operational fleet too.

It’s time to talk.

On 10th September it's World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD). An awareness day observed on 10 September every year. WSPD aims to start the conversation about suicide and to show that suicide is preventable, not inevitable.

This is followed by World Mental Health Day on 10th October, but any day is the time to talk.
