13 collection teams we empty garden waste containers from households subscribed to the Council’s chargeable collection service.
All households wishing to receive garden waste collections require a permit, which is issued by Cheshire West and Chester Council. Apply for CW&C paid garden waste collection service.
The collected garden waste is taken to local reprocessing facilities, once here the garden waste is shredded and turned into compost using open windrows (long, triangular-shaped mounds). The green waste is checked for quality before being shredded and formed into windrows. These are turned every week for 14 weeks as the organic materials break down to form compost.
Final compost is spread on farmland or used for land reclamation.
